Introducing a win-win option to deliciously cook cabbage for the winter table. The recipe has been tested by several generations. We have been using it in the family for more than 10 years. The great-grandmother was the first to start cooking cabbage in this way, and since then, more and more relatives prefer to do cabbage this way. It turns out quickly, simply and very tasty. In addition, in this way cabbage can be harvested even in winter and spring.

You will need

  • Products:

  • • White cabbage –2 kg

  • • Garlic - 4 cloves

  • • Carrots - 3-4 pieces (to taste)

  • For marinade:

  • • 1 liter of water

  • • 2 tbsp. l salt

  • • 1 tbsp. granulated sugar

  • • 0.5 cups vegetable oil (odorless, refined)

  • • 1 cup 9% vinegar
  • Tableware:

  • • Pan

  • • Glass jars

Cooking cabbage is very fast. Thanks to this, the recipe did not just take root, but became popular in our large family, because every housewife wants to quickly and tasty feed her family. So, first you need to cook vegetables. To do this, white cabbage is cleaned from the upper leaves, cut out the stump and cut into pieces. The cloves of garlic are peeled and cut into slices. Peel the carrots and rub on a medium grater.

Next, you need to cook the marinade. To do this, pour a measured amount of water into the pan, pour the required amount of sugar, add salt. Stir thoroughly so that the crystals of sugar and salt begin to dissolve. After add vegetable oil and vinegar to the marinade.

Put the resulting mixture on fire. As soon as the marinade begins to boil, the fire is turned off and vegetables are poured in a saucepan with a boiling, hot marinade. On top of the vegetables, lay an inverted lid from the pan or plate and set oppression.

Cabbage should be marinated for 1 day at room temperature. To do this, you can leave it right on the table. After 24 hours, the cabbage is sent to the refrigerator for storage. At the same time, it can be pre-packaged in glass jars with brine.

Vegetables need to be put in a small pan, since it is more convenient to put oppression in it and then put it in the refrigerator, if for example you do not want to transfer it to jars.

Useful advice

If you like shredded cabbage, you can chop cabbage with a knife instead of large pieces, but try not to make very small slices.
