The history of the Caesar salad has nothing to do with the great emperor Julius Caesar. The dish owes its name to the cook and restaurateur Caesar Cardini, the author of this appetizer. Cardini lived in the first half of the 20th century in the city of Tijuana (Mexico). Today there are dozens of recipe options for this salad, from simple to the most complex. But the foundation is always the same - toasted white bread, lettuce, cheese and olive oil.
