Start preparing raisins. For compote, you can use raisins of dark or light varieties. Depending on which variety you prefer, the color and taste of the drink will change. First you need to carefully sort the raisins. Then pour it into a colander or sieve and rinse well under running water. Repeat the procedure if necessary. If raisins are very dirty, soak them for a while in warm water. This is especially true for light varieties of raisins, as it is treated with chemicals for better storage.

Transfer the prepared raisins to a pan with water and add 250 g of granulated sugar.

Put the pan on gas, bring to a boil, reduce the gas so that the compote does not boil too much, and continue to cook for 40-50 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove the pan from the heat. Add sugar to taste if necessary. You can add a little lemon juice if you want a more sour taste. Drink compote chilled or hot like tea.

When buying raisins, pay attention to the following external signs. Too soft or, on the contrary, over-dried fruits indicate improper storage and preparation of raisins. To add shine, dried fruits are rubbed with various oils, which can adversely affect their health. Therefore, try not to get too "beautiful" raisins. The most useful raisins with stones, because it contains more trace elements.
