Table setting for a formal dinner begins with the choice of a tablecloth. The classic color is white, but if you are comfortable with a different color scheme, there are no prohibitions. The main thing is that it should be a solid fabric tablecloth, preferably linen. Its ends should be covered by the legs of the table, evenly hanging from all sides. Traditionally, so as not to hear the clatter of appliances, a felt lining is placed under the tablecloth.

Opposite the place for each guest, place small large plates, placing them 2.5 centimeters from the edge of the table. You can put snack plates on them if you plan to serve snacks, and after them hot. Or deep plates, if your menu has soup. Of course, all plates and devices should be either from the same service, or be combined in style.

To the left of the plate, bend down the forks. First, put a wider fork for meat or fish, depending on what dishes you plan to serve, then also place a fork for snacks with teeth up. The first fork should lie about 1 centimeter from the edge of the plate.

To the right of the plate, place the knives in the same order - the hot knife is closer to the plate, and the diner is further. Knives should lie with the blade to the plate. If there is soup in the menu, place the soup spoon with the curve down to the far right.

Place glasses and glasses over the upper right corner of the plate. You can set them in an arc, a triangle or in one line. The closest thing should be a glass for water or juice.
