You will need

  • - 1 kg of peeled red grapefruit;

  • - 700 ml of water;

  • - 1.5 kg of granulated sugar;

  • - vanilla pod;

  • - 1 tbsp. a spoon of poppy seeds.

Peeled grapefruits into slices. In a saucepan, bring to a boil 3 liters of water and dip the grapefruit into it. After 3 minutes, remove the slices and pour over boiled cold water.

Dry the slices of citrus, make a few punctures in them with a toothpick or fork. Put in a deep dish and pour 500 g of granulated sugar. Soak at room temperature for a day.

After the allotted time, drain the allocated juice into a jar and store in the refrigerator. Then prepare the syrup by mixing 700 ml of water and 800 g of granulated sugar.

Pour the grapefruit into the cooked syrups. After two hours, boil the jam over low heat, periodically removing the foam. Add the remaining sugar, poppy seeds and vanilla bean 10 minutes before the end.

Pour the finished jam into banks, twist and wrap. When it has completely cooled, put it in a dark, cool place.
