The popularity of a microwave oven is based on the speed of cooking and on the preservation of more nutrients in dishes than with conventional heat treatment. But only with the right choice of dishes.

There are three types of dishes for microwave: ceramic, glass, special plastic. It is strictly forbidden to use utensils made of metal. It is advisable not to use plates and pans with a pattern, as some paints contain metal particles and can damage the magnetron.

Glassware

A small pan, expanding to the top and made of heat-resistant glass, is a necessary item for cooking in the microwave. In it you can easily cook the first and second courses. Many housewives use such pans even for baking.

The only caveat - it is better to choose a round pan. In the oval and square containers, the distribution of microwaves is uneven.

Ordinary glasses with thick glass walls will also come in handy in a modern kitchen. They can bake omelettes, cook small muffins, warm the juice. Thin-walled glasses for a microwave are not suitable, they will burst when heated. Also, crystal containing lead and other metals should not be used.

Ceramic dishes

Ceramic dishes for the microwave are ideal. All plates and pans used in the preparation should not have chips or cracks, since the dishes may crack during heating. Therefore, it is preferable to buy pots and dishes coated with glaze for the microwave. Damage will be visible immediately on the glaze.

It is not recommended to purchase china at the local market. As a rule, all of it is imported from China, where metal is almost always added to ceramics and paint. By the way, you can check whether or not the dishes for the microwave are suitable.

A 200 ml glass jar filled with water is placed in the oven and covered with an unsealed lid. A checked item, such as a plate, is placed next to the can. Include maximum heating for 1-2 minutes. If the plate remains cold, it can be used for cooking in the microwave. If heated, this dish is not suitable for microwave.
