You will need

  • Carrots - 2 pcs.

  • Onions - 1-2 pcs.

  • Potato - 2.5-3 kg

  • Meat (boneless) - 300-400 gr

  • Salt, spices - to taste

Pour oil into the pan. Put the diced meat. Add salt and spices. Fry lightly for about 10 minutes.

After the meat is slightly fried, you need to add grated carrots and chopped onions. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally for about 20 minutes.

Boil about 2 liters. water in a teapot while onions with carrots are prepared. This is done in order not to wait until the cold water in the pan heats up.

Add chopped straws or diced potatoes. Add hot water to cover almost the entire potato (leaving about 2-3 cm). Salt, add spices to taste.

Cook over low heat, occasionally stirring until the potatoes are soft (about 30-60 minutes). Make sure that the water in the pan is always not less than half.

Stewed potatoes are cooked for about 1-1.5 hours, depending on the volume of the pan.

Once you add the carrots and onions to the pan, it’s important to add more oil. The fact is that carrots instantly absorb almost all the oil and the dish begins to burn.

Useful advice

We in the family cut the meat in cubes in advance, divide into portions, put it in the freezer. All this significantly saves time and effort during cooking.

If you pulled the meat from the freezer, then do not rush to defrost it. Pour oil into the pan (just a little bit), add frozen meat, do not salt, cover and wait until it unfrosts (about 15 minutes on low heat). Then drain the water and repeat everything that was described at the beginning of step 1. So you save time by defrosting the product and preparing the whole dish.

If you are preparing a dish for a beloved man who loves kebabs, you can marinate the meat in advance. Diced meat marinate for 30 minutes. Marinade can be bought at most supermarkets for little money. The dish will be more intense and delicious.
