Corn frozen at the peak of its maturity does not lose either its flavor or its excellent taste. The efforts spent on its freezing, pay off handsomely. Pay attention to the variety of corn that you are about to freeze. Sugar subspecies are ideal.

You will need

    • Large pot of water
    • A wide bowl of cold water and ice
    • Freezer bags
    • Freezer

Instruction manual

1

Peel the corncob from the end where the brush is. Remove all fibers.

2

Put the ears in a large pot, fill with water, put on a fire and bring to a boil. Cook for no more than five minutes.

3

While the corn is boiling, prepare a large and wide bowl of cold water and ice.

4

Drain the hot water and dip the ears of corn into an ice bowl. It is important that the corn cooking process is stopped immediately. This method is called blanching. Thanks to him, corn grains will remain without wrinkles, and the next step - husking grains - will be much easier.

5

Hatch the grains from the ears in a large bowl.

6

Prepare bags for freezing and a large spoon or a special spatula. Fill one bag and remember how many spoons or spatulas you need.

7

Lay the bag flat on the work surface and, slowly and carefully, smooth it by hand. This will leave excess air, the grains will freeze faster and take up less space. Close the bag and put it in the freezer.

8

Spread the remaining corn in bags and put it in a single layer in the freezer. When all the corn is finally frozen, it will be possible to stack the packages one on one.

9

If you have little time, you can freeze corn without blanching. It will lose a little taste, but it will be completely edible. Clean the cobs and freeze them whole. After freezing, remove them and husk the grains. Put them in bags and put them back in the refrigerator.

10

You can freeze blanched corn directly on the cob, but it will take up much more space in the freezer. Corn on the cob can be quickly heated in the microwave, wrapped in moist paper towels.

Useful advice

Frozen corn can be stored in the freezer for up to a year.
