A large beautiful, hard apple - 3 pieces, a sharp, preferably a small knife.

Wash the apple well, dry it. Then cut in half, the lobes should be the same.

Put half the apple on the board with the slice down. In its center, make incisions of about 3 cm so that a 1 cm wide strip forms in the middle. From each side, make another incision perpendicular to the first. Remove the resulting slices. This will be the body of a swan.

From the apple slices that you cut along the edges of the strip, make wings. In the same way as in the second paragraph, cut the slices with a corner. Only the notch depth should be about 5 mm. There are 4-5 such wing segments, so use another apple if necessary.

Then you need to fold the "feathers of the wings" steps, so that the corner of one lobule covers slightly different. Use toothpicks to fasten them to the body of a swan.

Now you need to make a swan's head, for this you need to take a new apple. Trim it on both sides, leaving a distance of 1.5 cm wide in the middle. Then cut a thin slice with the stump and cut the neck out of it, leaving part of the stump to simulate the head. Make a small indentation in the head for the eye and place a seed there.

The fruits you use for carving should not be too ripe.

Apples can be of any color, but before carving or after you need to soak them for 15 minutes in citric acid with water. You can periodically water the fruit during the cutting process with this solution.

If you cut the fruit, but not all of it went to decorate the dish, then simply rinse it in ice water, cover it with a cloth dampened in cold water and squeezed well, wrap it in cling film and simply place it in the refrigerator for storage.

After all, even a very delicately sliced ​​watermelon, based on all the rules of carving, is just a watermelon and nothing more.
