Cranberries are one of the last autumn berries. Cranberry berries contain vitamins, micro and macro elements, phytonocides, and many organic acids. That is why cranberries are an excellent assistant in the prevention and treatment of diseases in the autumn-winter period. From this useful, but slightly sour berry, jam, kvass, fruit drinks, sauces for various dishes are prepared. One of them - cranberry and apple jam - is not only tasty, but also a healthy treat to your table.

You will need

  • - 1 kg of cranberries;

  • - 0.5 cups of water;

  • - 2.5 kg of granulated sugar;

  • - 1 kg of fresh sweet apples;

  • - 1 cup walnuts;

  • - a small pan;

  • - basin for jam;

  • - glass jars.

Prepare all the necessary jam ingredients. Peel walnuts and cut them into small pieces or use purchased peeled nuts. When using peeled nuts, wash and dry them. Wash the apples, cut them into small slices. Put the cranberries in a colander and rinse, wait until the water drains.

Take a small pan and lay the washed berries. Pour half a glass of hot water into the pan and place on the stove. Cook for 5-10 minutes until the berries are soft, but do not allow the berries to boil.

Remove the pan from the heat. Wipe the berries through a sieve.

Pour granulated sugar into a jam bowl, add a glass of cold water and boil. Put mashed cranberries, chopped apples and chopped walnuts in the finished syrup. Cook for thirty to forty minutes over low heat.

Cranberry and apple jam is ready. Sterilize the jars and pour in the cooled jam. Store jam in a dark cool place or in the refrigerator. Serve cranberry and apple jam for tea.
