Refreshing fresh fruit compotes are a great alternative to shop drinks and juices. Cook them from any seasonal fruits and berries. For example, a compote of apples and tangerines is very interesting in taste. It can be drunk warm or chilled, served for dessert or quenched with thirst during the day.

    • Mandarin apple compote:
    • 3 liters of water;
    • 6 apples
    • 6 tangerines;
    • 2 cups of sugar.
    • Apple compote with tangerines and zest:
    • 500 g of apples;
    • 4 large tangerines;
    • 500 ml of water;
    • 1 cup of sugar.

For compote, choose strong, undamaged fruits without dark spots, preferably sweet and sour varieties - with them the finished drink will have a more intense taste. Keep in mind that sour apples digest faster. When choosing tangerines for compote, give preference to a seedless variety.

Before you cook the compote, prepare the fruits. Wash them thoroughly. Remove the peel from the tangerines and disassemble them into slices, removing white fibers. Peel the apples. To do this, you can use a peeler or a sharp knife. Try another option - put the fruits in boiling water for 3-5 seconds, remove and transfer to cold water. The peel is removed very easily. Cut the middle of the fruit or remove it with a special metal tube. Peel and cut apples immediately before putting them into cooking water, otherwise the fruit will darken.

Pour water into a high saucepan, pour sugar into it. While stirring, bring the syrup to a boil and completely dissolve the sugar crystals. Put apples sliced ​​in thin slices in boiling water, reduce heat and cook them for 5-7 minutes. Add tangerines to the pan, add heat and boil the compote again. Turn off the stove and let it brew under a closed lid for about 10 minutes. Pour into glasses, putting in each fruit and cool.

Try another version of tangerine-apple compote. Cut off the zest from the citrus peel and cut it into thin strips. Free tangerine slices from the films and arrange them into wide glasses or glass bowls. Pour water into a saucepan, add sugar and bring the mixture to a boil. Put in the syrup tangerine zest and apples, diced in small cubes. Cook the compote for 10 minutes - the apples should become soft. Cool the finished drink and pour it into prepared bowls or glasses, putting boiled apples and zest in each tablespoon. Serve with biscuits as a light afternoon snack or afternoon dessert.
