We set the goal of diluting alcohol with water to obtain a drinking mixture or, generally speaking, the preparation of vodka. We take as a basis that it is required to obtain a product with 40%, or so, alcohol content.

In his famous dissertation, Mendeleev did not research vodka. He determined that when alcohol is mixed with water, the total volume of the mixture decreases, and he calculated how much of the final product “disappears” at various ratios. It turned out that this dependence is non-linear and depends on which hydrates are formed during this or that mixing. Therefore, mixing in arbitrary ratios will lead to an arbitrary result. The quality of the final product largely depends on the quality of the ingredients and, as already mentioned, their ratio.

High-purity alcohol is produced from grain and potatoes, Lux and Extra - from specially selected grades of grain. According to the degree of purification, alcohol is divided into:

First grade 96%;

The highest purification 96.2%;

Extra 96.5%;

Lux 69.3%;

Medical;

Anhydrous.

Water should be completely transparent, colorless, without extraneous taste and smell, with a minimum of salts contained in it. The water taken for vodka is additionally purified, filtered and softened. Such water is called corrected.

To improve the taste of vodka, various ingredients may be present in its composition:

Honey;

Lemon acid;

Sugar;

Milk;

Acetic acid.

The general principles are as follows: It is believed that the "golden ratio" is when two parts of alcohol are mixed with three parts of water. It is advisable to mix not the volumes of alcohol and water, but their exact weight ratios. Water is added to alcohol. Both liquids can be poured into the tank at the same time, but the introduction of alcohol should end earlier than water.

Alcohol is poured into the prepared container (1250ml 96% alcohol);

Add 40 ml of 40% glucose;

Add distilled water, bringing the volume of the solution to 3 liters;

The resulting solution is left to stand for several days, or better - a week or two.

Alcohol must be ethyl.

Useful advice

If you are going to process (filter) vodka, then add the ingredients described above to the ingredients after AFTER filtration.

Honey for this is diluted with crystal clear water in a proportion of one to ten (per 10 l of vodka 1 kg of honey). Honey gives vodka the so-called softness.
