You will need

  • - apples - 1 kg;

  • - water - 500 ml;

  • - sugar - 800 g;

  • - pectin - 12 g;

  • - citric acid - 1/3 teaspoon.

Instruction manual

1

For the preparation of marmalade, sour apple varieties, for example, "White filling", are suitable. Apples must be washed and completely peeled and middle with membranes and seeds. You don’t need to throw away the peel or the middle. Put them in a pan with a thick bottom, add 500 ml of water. Bring to a boil, and then simmer for about 10 minutes. Having cooled a little, we filter the broth in a separate bowl.

2

Cut the peeled apples into thin slices - not more than 2 mm. Wrap in a baking sleeve, foil or parchment. We put in the oven preheated to 200 degrees and simmer in our own juice for 15 minutes. Then we take out, wipe through a sieve and place in a pan with a thick bottom. Mix the applesauce with the previously obtained broth. Add pectin.

3

We put the pan on the fire and, bringing to a boil, cook for about 5 minutes. Then put on low heat and cook for an hour and a half.

4

We divide 800 g of sugar into three approximately equal parts. The first part of sugar is added to applesauce after 20 minutes of cooking. Then at the same intervals add the two remaining parts.

5

After one and a half hours of cooking, add a third of a teaspoon of citric acid dissolved in one tablespoon of water. Remove the mashed potatoes from the heat.

6

Preheat the oven to 100 degrees. We cover the form with parchment. Pour applesauce into it and put the oven on for an hour and a half. The oven door must be left ajar so that the temperature inside is not too high.

7

We take the finished marmalade from apples out of the oven, free from parchment and cut into small pieces of any shape. Roll each slice in sugar or icing sugar. You can also use sesame seeds or coconut powder for sprinkling.
