Choose rose hips to make a drink. If you want to make a decoction of ripe berries, then choose red or bright orange fruits. Rosehip is ripening in mid-autumn and it will be better if you pick the fruits yourself. It should be collected before the first frost. In thawed fruits, some of the nutrients are lost.

To prepare a decoction of dried fruits, choose berries of uniform color, well-dried. If you want to prepare rose hips for the winter, then dry the berries in an electric fruit dryer or in the oven at minimum temperature.

Rinse the rosehips thoroughly. Place in enameled dishes and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Then remove the dishes from the heat and let the broth brew for 4-6 hours. If you want to make a drink from dried rosehips, grind them with a wooden mortar. Cook like fresh berries, but infuse the broth for at least 8 hours. Strain the finished broth through a clean linen napkin or several layers of gauze.

A rosehip drink prepared in this way turns out to be slightly acidic in taste. To improve the taste and healing qualities, add honey to it. To obtain a product that is more saturated with vitamins, add the berries of viburnum, blackcurrant, mountain ash, various medicinal herbs (mint, thyme, chamomile, lemon balm, etc.) while making a rosehip drink. Vitamin C can be increased by adding lemon juice.

Doctors recommend drinking an extract or broth of wild rose on an empty stomach. In this case, it is very convenient to use a thermos to prepare the drink. Grind the berries in a mortar, place them in a thermos and pour hot boiled water. Leave it overnight. In the morning you will get a healthy drink.
