Honey alcoholic drinks have their history from the depths of centuries. We all heard that in Russia honey was very appreciated and loved, it was eaten with pleasure, it was treated, drinks were made from it. There was a mead in every hut; they gave it to the newlyweds and drank it on holidays. The recipe for an old honey drink has been lost today, but the mead is brewed now.

You will need

    • 10 l of water;
    • 1.5 kg of honey;
    • 10 grams of hop cones;
    • 3 grams of yeast.

Instruction manual

1

Clean the water through the filter, let it settle. Then pour into a saucepan and set on fire. When it reaches a boil, pour honey into a pot of water, mixing everything thoroughly. Boil for 2-3 minutes, constantly removing the resulting foam. When the foam disappears, put the hops in the pan, stir and close the lid. Turn off the fire.

2

Put the yeast in a bowl, mash them, if they are not dry, pour warm, sweetened water and let it brew for 10-15 minutes. After that, wait until the water with honey in the pan cools down to 50 degrees, then add yeast with water there. Mix everything well and put in a warm place for 5 days.

3

When 5 days have passed, remove the hop cones from the pan. Then strain the drink through cheesecloth and gently bottle it. Keep mead in a cool place. You can not drink it immediately, but about a few days after the drink is packaged in bottles.

note

Mead foams well, so open the bottle carefully.
