Wash and dry the lemon thoroughly and prepare the zest. The easiest way is to rub the peel on a fine grater. However, this must be done very carefully so as not to touch the white layer. He will give your cake a bitterness. Carefully removed, the lemon peel gives only a subtle aroma of lemon. In order to cut only the yellow peel from the lemon, you must first scald it. Removed zest must be dried and ground in a coffee grinder or culinary mortar.

Another preparatory moment will be the soaking of candied fruits. Rinse thoroughly in hot water, put in a bowl, add the right amount of candied fruits to it and pour them with boiling water. In this form, berries and fruits need to stand for about five minutes. Drain, pour candied fruits and raisins with cold boiled water.

Put softened butter and granulated sugar in the mixer bowl. Beat mixture into a homogeneous mass. Beat eggs in it, a little salt - about half a teaspoon or a little less, add vanilla and mix again.

Pour the resulting mass into the capacity of your bread maker, pour the zest there and squeeze the juice from the remaining lemon. Pour the previously sifted flour on top. The sifting process will enrich the flour with oxygen and the baking will be more magnificent. Add baking powder.

Drain the candied fruit and raisins and also pour them into the bread machine. Put chopped nuts.

Set a program suitable for baking ("sweet bread" or "homemade cake") and, if desired, the start time of baking.
