Sometimes after the holiday there are left corridors of oranges from which you can make a wonderful dessert - caramelized oranges. According to some information, the recipe came to us from Belgium, according to others - from Spain. In ancient times, instead of sugar, honey was used to make sweets. Our contemporaries use oranges in caramel with tea or use as decoration for cakes or pastries.

5 medium-sized oranges are washed and cut into circles about half a centimeter thick. The tips do not use.

Pour water into the pan (0.5 liters), add the chopped fruit, cook for 3-4 minutes to remove bitterness. After that, water is not used in the recipe.

Then the orange circles are laid out on a dry dish or towel and dried. It is not necessary to wait until they cool.

A layer of sugar is poured into a saucepan or deep pan, onto which a layer of oranges is added. So alternate layers of fruit and sugar. Must have sugar on top. For 5 oranges take a pound of sugar. Then fill it all with a glass of water. In the cooking process, you can gradually add another glass of water.

Bring the mixture to a boil and immediately reduce the heat and cover the dishes with a lid.

Caramelized oranges must be cooked for one and a half hours. Readiness is determined by the peel. If it became soft - the fruits are ready.

Slices of oranges spread on a dish or paper towel and dried at room temperature.

The circles thus prepared remain soft. To obtain hard caramelized oranges, the slices are laid on a baking sheet with parchment paper and sent to the oven, where they are left for 15 minutes at a temperature of 120 degrees. So that the slices do not burn out, you can reduce the power of the fire to 90 degrees and below.

Removed from the oven orange circles can be eaten as a finished dish, or used to make oranges in chocolate.

It is better to take dark chocolate, melt it in the microwave, adding a few drops of water. Dip slices of oranges in the molten mass and put them to dry on foil or cling film.
