For experienced gardeners, the answer to the question of whether garlic shooters need to be removed is definitely positive. But far from many people find it to be used in cooking, preferring to just throw it away. At best, they replenish the contents of the compost heap. But they can be salted, pickled, fried. Garlic arrows are tasty and aromatic if they are fried with the addition of hot and spicy seasonings.

Before talking about the cooking process, it is important to learn how to properly obtain these same arrows. There is no particular difficulty in simply breaking off each arrow at its exit point. But in this case, part of the shooter crop will be lost. The fact is that the most successful moment of harvesting arrows occurs when they can be gently pulled out of the garlic stem with a little effort. When breaking off, another 8–10 cm arrows remain inside. Moreover, this part is the most tender and juicy.

As soon as the arrow is overripe, it will inevitably break off. Therefore, it is important not to miss the moment when the arrows have already appeared, have grown a little, but have not yet become stiff. Even if there is a lot of garlic planted, and all the arrows do not eat at once, they need to be pulled out all while possible. After cutting into pieces, the arrows can be frozen and used later.

For frying, as a rule, the thinnest upper part is cut off, and everything else, including the seed head that has not yet been completely formed, is cut into 3-4 cm lengths. Previously, the arrows must be held in boiling water for 2-4 minutes. Time depends on their level of maturity. If already harsh, then a little longer. After that, they recline in a colander so that the glass is excess fluid.

Now you can proceed directly to frying. The arrows are fried in vegetable oil, the choice of which can be given to the hostess. The first step is fried until golden brown onions, which are taken 2-3 pcs. average size of about 0.5 kg of garlic shooters. You can add carrots, tomatoes or a spoonful of tomato paste to the onion. Then, arrows boiled until half ready are already added to this frying.

The whole process of frying garlic arrows takes no more than 15 minutes, so 5 minutes before its end, you need to sprinkle the dish with ground black and burning red pepper, ground coriander. If there is chilli, then its fruit will also be in place. The arrows do not have a pronounced garlic taste, like the cloves themselves, so in a pan where they are fried, you can grind a few cloves. Before removing from the heat, liquid soy sauce is added (1-2 tablespoons).

Useful advice

This is an option for frying garlic shooters intended for lovers of spicy food, but you can fry without pepper, or limit yourself to the very minimum of black for flavor. If you managed to prepare the garlic arrows for the future, then during the winter they can be fried separately or added to vegetable or meat stews, where they are no wonder confused with green green beans.
