  • - a thin wooden stick;

  • - slice of bread;

  • - iodine or vinegar;

  • - distilled water.

Instruction manual

1

Brew a cup of weak warm tea and add some honey to it. If the honey is real, high-quality, then the tea should darken, but at the same time, sediment should not form at the bottom of the cup.

2

Determine if there is starch in honey as follows: dissolve a teaspoon of honey in a cup of distilled water and drop 3-4 drops of iodine there. The water will turn blue if there was starch in the honey.

3

Check if there is any chalk in the honey: drip a couple of drops of vinegar essence into a cup with a solution of water and honey. Look at the honey diluted in water before adding iodine or vinegar there: the fake honey solution will most likely be cloudy and iridescent overflow, after a short period of time a precipitate will appear at the bottom of the glass.

4

Determine if unripe honey is diluted with sugar syrup. Dip a piece of bread in honey for 8-10 minutes, then remove the bread and put on a saucer. If in 8-10 minutes the honey hardens, then it is of high quality, but if on the contrary it softens, then this is not honey, but sugar syrup.

5

Dip a thin wooden stick in a jar of honey (a skewer will do) and slowly remove. If the honey is real, then it will reach for the stick with a continuous, gradually thinning thread, and interrupted, the thread will drop, forming a tubercle on the surface of the honey. Fake honey will drip from the wand and drip, forming a spray like liquid glue.

6

Take a closer look at honey, you can even take a light - fake honey, which contains sugar, starch and the like becomes cloudy, a precipitate forms at the bottom of the tank.

7

Smell the honey. The real one has a fragrant aroma, while the fake one smells almost nothing, except for sweetness, sugar. Rub a little honey between your fingers: the real one will easily rub and soak into the skin. The fake one has a rough structure, lumps will remain on the skin.

8

Heat a piece of stainless steel wire, dip in honey and immediately remove. If the wire remains clean - honey is real. If a foreign mass sticks to it, then it is fake.

9

Pay attention to the color of honey: if it is unnaturally white, then in front of you is the so-called "sugar honey". The bees that made it were not taken out to collect nectar, but simply fed sugar.
