You will need

    • 400-500 g of wheat flour;
    • 7 g of dry yeast;
    • 1 tbsp salt;
    • 1 tbsp olive oil;
    • 250 ml of water.

Instruction manual

1

Warm up 250 ml of water, mix it with one tablespoon of olive oil. Sift flour through a sieve, add yeast, salt. Pour half the flour into the water, knead all the time in one direction, until a thick mass is obtained (you can use half the flour in the sifted form). Then add the second half of the flour, knead, roll the dough into a bowl, cover with a towel and leave in a warm place for half an hour.

2

Knead the dough for ten minutes, grease the bowl with butter, put a bowl of dough in it, cover with a towel and leave it in a warm place again for an hour (until it doubles). Sprinkle flour into your hands, divide the dough into ten equal parts, roll the balls out of them, then roll the cakes one or half a centimeter thick, with a diameter of about ten to fifteen centimeters. Cover finished cakes with a towel while others roll out.

3

Preheat the oven to 240 ° C, put a baking sheet with water on the bottom to form the hot steam that is necessary when baking, so that the pita quickly rises and forms a "pocket" inside. Grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil or cover with foil, put it in the oven and heat to a very hot state.

4

Put on a hot baking sheet pitas, put on the hottest upper level in the oven and bake for three to five minutes (the cakes should swell, but they must not be overexposed, otherwise they will turn out to be dry and brittle).

5

Eat only warm pita: fold the prepared cakes directly from the oven in a stack and wrap in a sheet of foil. If you bake pita for the future, the cakes that have cooled in the foil without unrolling, put in the freezer. Before use, remove from the freezer, unfold, defrost, then wrap in foil and put in a non-hot oven (approximately 150 ° C) for fifteen minutes.
