You will need

  • For the test:

  • - 1 egg;

  • - 1 cup of sugar;

  • - 1 teaspoon of baking powder;

  • - 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter;

  • - 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • For royal glaze:

  • - 4 tablespoons of meringue powder;

  • - 100 g of warm water;

  • - 560 g of powdered sugar.
  • For royal glaze (made from protein):

  • - 2 egg whites;

  • - 2 teaspoons of lemon juice;

  • - 330 g of powdered sugar.

Instruction manual

1

In a medium bowl, stir the flour and baking powder together. In a mixer, beat the softened butter with sugar, using the oars, to a state of lightness and splendor. The procedure should take about 3 minutes.

2

Add the egg and vanilla to the oily mass, whisk for another minute. Next, add portioned flour mixture, constantly mixing the dough with a mixer until smooth until it starts to move away from the edges of the bowl.

3

After removing the dough from a bowl, place it on a piece of parchment paper. Place the dough with your hands. Having placed the dough in a large plastic bag or covered with cling film, send it to the freezer for 20-30 minutes. You can store it in the refrigerator for about 2 days.

4

Preheat the oven to 350 ° C degrees. Set aside about half the chilled dough. Put parchment paper on top of it, which will allow you to process the dough without additional dusting with flour.

5

Roll into a formation approximately 10 mm thick. Using a mold (2.5 cm in diameter), cut the workpieces. For each finished box, 4 cookies are required. One batch of dough will be about 5 finished boxes.

6

Bake the whole cookie without cutting out the center portion. After the cookies are baked, while they are still hot, cut out the central part using a mold with a diameter of 1.75 cm, but do not remove it.

7

Let the pastries cool for a minute or two on a baking sheet. Then, using a spatula, carefully transfer the cookies along with the pristine cutout to the chilled racks. Once the cookies have cooled completely, remove the inner circle.

8

Prepare the royal icing, mixing all the ingredients to splendor. Add dyes as desired. Fluids should be added as much until you reach the desired consistency.

9

The glaze should be dense enough so that it does not run off the edges, but the layer should be thin enough. Collect the boxes. First, put a whole cookie (without a notch), which will serve as a bottom, then - 2 rings, and on top cover with a whole disk - a cover.

10

Decorate cookies. Paint the outline of the disk with light blue glaze, and then fill the entire surface with blue (or a color of your choice) with the glaze. Allow to dry completely for at least 4-8 hours.

Prepare jelly-coated sweets to decorate the top of the “boxes” by cutting them lengthwise (for leaves) or across (for flowers) depending on the pattern.

Glue a drop of glaze on each “petal” and “leaf” on the glazed surface of the cookie. To complete the image, draw a dotted line along the edge of the circle with white glaze.
