Ingredients for the base:

  • 200 g of any hard cheese;

  • 200 g of soft cheese;

  • 2 cloves of garlic;

  • 5 g ground nutmeg;

  • ½ cup milk (0.5% fat);

  • 10 g of potato starch;

  • ground pepper to your taste.

Snack examples:

  • 0.5 kg of chicken;

  • half a French baguette;

  • 0.5 kg of fried champignons;

  • 2 fried potatoes;

  • 0.4 kg of boiled cauliflower.

Cooking:

To prepare this dish, you will need a special set for fondue: kakelon - a container (similar to a cauldron or pot) with thick walls, a burner and long forks.

  1. Two types of cheese (hard and soft) in equal parts (200 grams each) grate coarsely.

  2. Peel the garlic, they need to carefully rub all the walls and the bottom of the kakelon, this process is long, but it's worth it. For the very impatient, you can cheat and squeeze garlic directly into the cheese, but the effect will already be different.

  3. Put the kakelon on the stove on the biggest fire and wait until it heats up.

  4. Once the container has warmed up well, pour all the grated cheese and nutmeg powder into it. The cheese mixture must be constantly stirred, thereby helping it to melt.

  5. The cheese is half melted, now you can add assorted different types of ground peppers (for example, white, black, red) to your taste. If you do not really like spicy food, then you can completely abandon these ingredients.

  6. Add half a glass of milk, while continuing to stir the contents of the kakelon, then the milk is mixed evenly with cheese.

  7. And finally, pour a spoonful of potato starch, it is this ingredient that will make fondue a homogeneous mass. As soon as this happens, the pot can be removed from the stove and serve.

  8. Kakelon is placed on a special burner, the fire of which will keep the fondue hot.

  9. On a long fork, any of the proposed snacks is pounded and plunged into a cheese fondue. Insert the fork into the intended groove and wait a little while the snack is saturated with cheese. Take out a fork with a fragrant piece and you can enjoy a delicious treat.

An appetizer for fondue can be different, the recipe provides only some examples of what can be used.

  1. Cut chicken into portions, boil or fry.

  2. Cut the baguette into circles, bake with spices in the oven.

  3. Cut the mushrooms in arbitrary pieces or leave them whole, fry in a pan.

  4. Cut the potatoes into medium cubes, also fry.

  5. Cauliflower divided into small inflorescences, boil in salted water.
