Jambalaya is a traditional Creole meat dish that resembles pilaf. Despite the large number of ingredients, the dish is prepared simply.

In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add onions and cook until soft. Then add sausages, sliced into rings. You need to push the onions around the edges so that the sausages are thoroughly fried.

Next, add chopped celery, garlic and carrots. Sprinkle everything with Italian herbs, thyme, paprika, salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly so that the components are evenly distributed in the mixture.

After that you need to add tomatoes, tomato paste, bell pepper, rice and hot sauce. Then pour the chicken stock.

Stir, bring to a boil, cover the pan with a lid and cook the jambalaya over moderate heat for 45 minutes.

When the jambalaya is cooked, add the peeled shrimp and cook for another 5 minutes. The dish must be served hot.
