Pork ribs can become not only a hearty snack, but also a main course, suitable for a family dinner or for a holiday. It is important to choose a sauce for the ribs, which favorably emphasizes the taste of meat, and a suitable side dish.

Pork ribs in a barbecue sauce with rice side dish

You will need:

- 600 g of pork ribs;

- vegetable oil;

- 1 orange;

- 4 tbsp liquid honey;

- 2 tbsp soy sauce;

- 2 tbsp sherry;

- 2 tbsp wine vinegar;

- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard;

- 2 tbsp tomato paste;

- 1.5 tbsp. basmati rice;

- 1 onion;

- 2-3 cloves of garlic;

- 50 g of peeled pine nuts;

- 50 g of raisins;

- 1/4 Art. vegetable broth;

- salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Heat vegetable oil in a pan. Divide the ribs into 4 pieces and fry in oil until half cooked for 5 minutes on both sides. Squeeze the juice from the orange and pour into a bowl. Add honey, soy sauce, sherry, vinegar, mustard, tomato paste and a little black pepper. Reduce heat and pour meat over the resulting mixture. Extinguish it over medium heat, periodically turning over. After cooking, remove the meat from the stove and cover.

Prepare the side dish separately. Wash rice in cold water. Peel and chop the garlic and onion. Fry them in oil for 3 minutes. Add nuts and raisins to vegetables, cook for a couple of minutes. Pour rice in the same place and fry it until it has a golden hue. Then add the broth and a little water, reduce the heat, cover the pan with a lid and simmer the rice for 15 minutes. Add more water or broth if necessary. Salt and pepper the side dish. Serve the meat with rice, sprinkled with the resulting barbecue sauce.

If you prefer a sauce with a richer fruit flavor, remove honey from the recipe and add more orange juice to it.
