Potato pies fried in vegetable oil is an incredibly satisfying meal. It’s not difficult to cook them, and if you strictly follow the recipe, which is given below, they will turn out to be incredibly soft and lush.

  • - 500 ml of fresh milk;
  • - 1.5 tsp dry yeast;
  • - a quarter cup of vegetable oil;
  • - Art. a spoonful of sugar;
  • - a pinch of salt;
  • - three to four glasses of flour.
  • For filling:
  • - 700 g of potatoes;
  • - two large onions;
  • - salt (to taste);
  • - a little vegetable oil (for frying onions).

The first step is to prepare the dough. So, you need to slightly heat the milk (up to about 40 degrees), pour yeast and sugar into it, mix well.

Next, mix three glasses of flour with salt and gradually pour into the milk mixture, mixing everything thoroughly so that there are no lumps. Put for 10 minutes (no more) in a warm place (during this time the dough will rise twice).

While the dough rises, it is necessary to peel the potatoes and onions, put the potatoes to boil, and the onions - to fry over medium heat (it must be constantly stirred so that it does not burn).

As soon as 10 minutes have passed, you need to add a little flour to the dough, mix, and let stand in a warm place for another 10 minutes (the dough should rise twice again).

In the meantime, it is necessary to drain the water from the potatoes, crush it, salt, add the fried onions and mix thoroughly.

On a work surface, put a tablespoon of flour, spread the flour over the surface and dump the dough. Divide it into 8-10 parts and make balls (the dough can be divided into a larger number of parts, but not more than 14). Each ball is slightly rolled out (you can stretch it by hand), put a tablespoon (a little more) of the potato filling on the dough and gently connect the edges of each pie (you need to fasten them well so that they do not fall apart when frying).

Heat the pan, pour vegetable oil and fry the pies over medium heat under a lid for five to seven minutes. Fried pies with potatoes ready.
