It is often drunk with food and consumed as an aperitif. At one time, the excellent properties of schnapps were discovered - it contributes to good digestion after fatty dishes, such as sausages or baked duck.

Schnapps should be served in small round glasses, reminiscent of traditional cognac. The portions are poured quite small, about 20 grams. A half of apricot or a small piece of pear is placed in a glass. But if schnapps is made in America, this is not worth taking, since glycerin is added to it and it has an unpleasant cloying taste.
