You will need
300 milliliters of milk, 150 grams of hard cheese, 1 bay leaf, 20 grams of butter, 20 grams of flour, nutmeg on the tip of a knife, salt and pepper - to taste.

Rinse the onion, peel and cut into 4 parts. Rinse bay leaf with boiling water.

In a stewpan, fold the onion, bay leaf and pour milk. While stirring, bring to a boil.

After boiling, turn off the heat, cover the stewpan with a lid and leave for 20 minutes.

Strain the milk and discard the onion and bay leaf.

Melt the butter in a pan, add the flour and fry until golden brown.

Pour milk into the butter and, stirring, cook until thickened.

Grate the cheese on a fine grater. Add salt, pepper, nutmeg and grated cheese to the sauce.

Cook on very low heat for 3-5 minutes until smooth.
