The choice and arrangement of glasses when serving depends on the assortment of drinks that are supposed to be served. The main law - the larger the glass, the less degrees should be in the drink poured into it. There are certain rules that help you quickly set glasses when setting the table.

Instruction manual

1

Place the glasses when laying the table to the right of the plates (from the edge to the center), in the order in which drinks are served. An exception may be only a champagne glass. Put it first on the left.

2

If you intend to supply only water, then place the glass in the center (behind the plate) or slightly to the right, at the line of intersection of the end of the first knife with the top edge of the plate. If fruit or kvass is being served instead of water, put a mug for them by turning the handle to the right.

3

When serving strong drinks, put a small glass for vodka or bitter liquor in the front row on the right. Next - Madeira glass - a little larger in size, which is intended for strong wines (sherry, port, madeira), they are usually used with appetizers. Then place an oblong, slightly narrowed up, a glass for white wine and looking like a sphere, barrel-shaped, for red. Next put the glass for water.

4

Do not put more than three items in one row. When fully served, line up your beverage items in two rows. Make sure that the distance between the glasses is at least one centimeter.

5

Put a cup with a handle for punch, and a snifter for cognac or brandy (a spherical glass, tapering up). Pour them to the bottom.

6

If there is no appropriate set of glasses for drinks, use neutral, medium size. For any table setting, transparent wine glasses made of unpainted glass on legs are suitable. Even brandy and brandy can be safely poured into them, filling no more than a quarter of a glass.

7

Arrange the glasses when setting the table in a semicircle in the following sequence: for champagne, red, white wine and vodka; in length (in a straight line): for water, red and white wine; or block: for water, then put a glass for white wine, and a little higher, above them, a glass for red wine.

note

A glass for white or red wine should be placed behind the knife, on the right.

Useful advice

It is customary to fill glasses with drinks at three quarters of the total capacity.
