You will need

  • - 0.5 kg of chopped meat;

  • - 700 g of potatoes;

  • - 1 head of onion;

  • - 1 stalk of celery;

  • - 1 carrot;

  • - 150 ml of meat broth;

  • - 1 tablespoon of butter;

  • - 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil;

  • - 100 ml of milk;

  • - 1 tablespoon of Worcester sauce;

  • - 1 teaspoon of tomato paste;

  • - salt;

  • - ground black pepper to taste.

Instruction manual

1

Peel and boil the potatoes in salted water. Cut the onion into small pieces. Setel celery also finely chop. Grate the carrots on a coarse grater.

2

Heat vegetable oil in a pan and sauté the onion until it becomes clear. Add carrots and celery to the onion and fry everything together for about 2-3 minutes. Then add minced meat to vegetables and fry until crumbly.

3

Combine tomato paste and Worcester sauce. Dilute the mass with meat broth. Add the mixture to the meat with vegetables and simmer another 5 minutes. Season with salt and spices.

4

When the potatoes are boiled, drain the water and mash it into a smoothie, adding butter and hot milk.

5

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. In the baking dish, put the meat, flatten. Then put the mashed potatoes, flatten it and apply wavy patterns with a fork. Put the form in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes. Irish shepherd’s pie is ready when the potato crust turns golden.

note

You can also add fresh or frozen green peas and finely chopped greens to the minced meat.

Useful advice

Worcester sauce is traditionally made in the UK from vinegar, sugar and fish. If you cannot find it in our stores, replace the sauce with a mixture of vinegar, sugar and salt.
