Mackerel is an inexpensive but very useful fish, from which you can cook a lot of different dishes. But at the same time, she is somewhat capricious and does not always turn out juicy and tender. But if you bake it in foil, then it will certainly please you, because this method of preparation is considered a win-win. The foil will allow the mackerel to retain all the juice inside, and this will certainly affect the taste of food in the best way. Even a novice hostess can cope with this.

Pick your recipe

You will need

  • - mackerel - 1 carcass (you can take frozen);

  • - large onions - 1 pc.;

  • - black ground pepper - 1 tsp;

  • - red hot pepper - 3 pinches (optional);

  • - salt - 1 tsp;

  • - sunflower oil - 1 tbsp. l.;

  • - lemon - 1 pc. (for submission);

  • - foil;

  • - a baking sheet or heat resistant form.

Instruction manual

1

To begin, cut off the tail and head of the fish, and then clean the abdomen from the insides. After that, the mackerel should be thoroughly washed in tap water and dried with paper towels. If the fish is frozen, then, as a rule, it does not require preliminary cleaning. It is only necessary to thaw it at room temperature.

2

In a small cup, mix black ground pepper with salt and rub the carcass inside and out with the resulting mixture.

3

Then take a sheet of foil, grease it with sunflower oil and lay the fish. Peel onions and chop them into thin half rings. After that, put half of the onions in the abdomen, and half evenly distribute on the fish on top. If you like pungency, then you can pre-sprinkle the onion with 2-3 pinches of red hot pepper.

4

Now wrap the edges of the foil so that the seam is on top - the workpiece must be airtight and free from gaps. After all, the main task in this dish is to preserve the juiciness of the fish, and this will be possible only if the juice remains inside and does not leak. For safety, you can wrap a mackerel with a double layer of foil. Then put it on a baking sheet or in a heat-resistant form.

5

Turn on the oven and set the temperature to 200 degrees. When it warms up enough, send a baking sheet with a bake to bake for 40 minutes. When the time comes to an end, carefully unfold the foil from the top along the seam and cook another 10 minutes until an appetizing golden brown crust forms on the fish.

6

Before serving the mackerel on the table, remove the foil or simply transfer the fish to a dish, be sure to water it with the resulting juice. If desired, around it you can spread the lemon, cut into circles, and also sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley or cilantro.

Useful advice

For a large company, you can simultaneously bake 2 or 3 carcasses. In this case, each of them should be wrapped in a separate foil. The amount of ingredients is taken in proportion.
