Instruction manual

1

How to soak fresh fish Squeeze juice from one lemon in a wide deep bowl (to get more juice, you can pre-heat citrus in a microwave for 60-90 seconds) and mix with one and a half liters of cold fresh water. Put the fish in the bowl. The fluid should cover it whole. If you didn’t have enough solution, mix in the same proportion - juice from one lemon and a half liters of water. Cover with a lid or plastic wrap. If you are going to cook fish in the near future, leave it to soak for an hour and a half at room temperature. Otherwise, put the fish tank in the refrigerator for 12-14 hours. Note that citric acid in the solution will destroy the connective tissue in fish meat, this will not only reduce the cooking time, but also give the white fish a more intense light color.

2

Combine 1 cup of table vinegar for every two liters of water and soak the fish in this solution overnight. Do not forget to cover and put the container with the fish carcass into the refrigerator. This method is suitable for those who do not favor citrus aroma. Before cooking, the fish will need to be washed. The same thing should be done if you intend to freeze a fish or intend to store it in a refrigerator for longer than 12 hours.

3

Soak the fish in wine. Do not choose expensive brands, a cheap drink is quite suitable for soaking fish.

4

Mix two cups of whole milk with 1/2 cup of salt. Pour the fish with this solution, cover, put in the refrigerator and leave for 12-14 hours. Rinse the fish carcass under running water before storing or cooking.

How to soak bacalao Bacalao is dried salted cod, dishes from it are popular in Portuguese, Brazilian, Spanish and Norwegian cuisine. Before cooking anything from this cod, it is soaked for a long time. For this, the fish is immersed in a bowl of cold fresh drinking water so that it covers it by 3-5 centimeters, and put in the refrigerator. Water is changed at least three times a day and the fish is soaked for about 3 days. You can try a piece of bacalao after 24 hours, it sometimes happens that this period is enough to barely feel the salt.

6

How to soak smoked fish Mix equal amounts of milk and fresh drinking water, pour this mixture of smoked fish so that it completely covers it. Put the container in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. After half an hour, drain the diluted milk. You can eat fish.

How to soak herring Too salty herring is soaked in cold unsweetened strong tea or milk. If you are comfortable with salt concentration, do not soak the herring, because in this way it loses a certain amount of nutrients and "healthy" fatty acids.
