Quality caviar should be thick and have a pleasant smell. What to do if suddenly the caviar seems stale and has an unpleasant odor? You can try to restore her former freshness. In addition, such an impression may arise from excess salt.

What to do with excess salt in caviar?

Caviar can be salted, but don't get upset - there is one proven method to fix this. You have to put the caviar in a large bowl, then fill it with water at room temperature, at the rate of two to one. Stir slowly for a couple of minutes to remove excess salt from caviar. Then you need to get rid of water by filtering the product with gauze or sieve. After that, lay the eggs on a plate and leave in the room for about 10 minutes. After this time, the product can be served on the table or transferred to a jar and closed with a lid. In no case do not wash such a delicacy in very hot water so that the protein that is in the eggs does not curl.

Bad smell

If the caviar has not only excess salt, but also an unpleasant smell, you can get rid of it in this way: you need to brew strong tea, strain it (disconnect completely from unnecessary tea leaves). The remaining gulls can be thrown away, you will no longer need them. The temperature of the tea should not be high, a maximum of 30-35 degrees, so as not to boil caviar.

If the smell is very strong - then you should fill the product with tea leaves in the proportion of 1/2, and if more or less acceptable - then with the calculation of 1/1. Slowly wash the eggs off the odor for 5-7 minutes, while stirring it so that the eggs remain intact. Put the caviar on gauze or a sieve for a while to allow the liquid to drain. When it flows out completely, check the caviar for taste. Make sure you washed the product well, if so - you can safely serve it on the table. If the excess salt in the caviar still remains, then you should once again conduct the washing process.
