Squids are appreciated not only for the presence in their composition of a large number of vitamins and minerals, but also for the low calorie content of this product. 100 g of fresh squid contains only 75 kcal. But already in boiled squid, the nutritional value is 110 kcal.

When choosing this product, it should be borne in mind that squid meat is the strongest allergen and can cause allergic reactions in humans.

In stores today you can buy both fresh and frozen squids. The latter option is much more common. When choosing squid take into account that the fillet should have a white or slightly pink color. Otherwise, it is considered damaged. Large salads are better suited for salads, but small carcasses are ideal for other dishes. At the same time, frozen squids should be easily separated from each other. If the carcasses stuck together in one mass, it means that they were frozen several times and it is undesirable to use such a product for cooking.

Squids can be prepared in various ways: baking, pickling, and so on. But for maximum benefit and preservation of all vitamins, they are enough to simply boil.

To do this, squid is properly defrosted. They are poured with cold water and placed in the refrigerator on the lower shelf. Then, after complete thawing, immerse in boiling water for 2-3 minutes. Then, under a stream of cold water from a tap, a film is removed from them and internal cartilage is removed.

For cooking, squid is immersed individually in boiling water and boiled for 2 minutes. If left for a longer period, then they will become very tough. To return softness, they will have to be cooked for another half an hour.

You can also cook squids in raw form. In this case, they are placed in boiling water and turn off the fire. Cover the pan with a lid and leave for 10 minutes. After this period of time, the carcasses will be ready for consumption.

Boiled squid can be used to make salads or as an independent dish.
