Shepard Pie is both an Irish and an English dish. Its other name is cottage pie. This recipe is quite simple, it resembles an ordinary potato casserole, but there are still differences. You should definitely try the Shepard cake to compare it with a casserole. It is worth noting that the first mention of this dish appeared in 1791, after people began to eat potatoes.

You will need

  • - 500 g of ground beef;

  • - 6 potatoes;

  • - half a glass of tomato sauce;

  • - 1 onion;

  • - a glass of frozen vegetables (carrots, peas, corn);

  • - a glass of grated cheese;

  • - 1 tbsp. a spoonful of soy sauce;

  • - pepper, salt.

Instruction manual

1

Peel the onion, chop it finely, fry in a skillet until golden in vegetable oil.

2

Add ground beef to the onion, fry until the meat turns brown. Better yet, the mince is a little browned. Salt, pepper, add tomato sauce (tomato paste), soy sauce. Add frozen vegetables, mix.

3

Boil the potatoes until cooked, peel, mash it.

4

Put the meat and vegetables in a baking dish, lay a layer of mashed potato on top, flatten. Sprinkle generously with grated cheese. The more cheese there is, the tastier the pie will be. Cover with a sheet of foil.

5

Bake Shepard cake for 30 minutes at 180 degrees. Remove the foil, put the pie on for another 10 minutes to make the cheese brown. You can serve both hot and chilled, but the cake is tastier in the warm form.
