We wash the barley groats until transparent. Fill with water and put on a small fire.

When the water is almost boiling, add milk. Salt, add sugar to taste. Cook over low heat.

It is advisable to remove the porridge from the stove when the milk is not all boiled away. That is, milk should be visible 1-2 centimeters above the porridge. Leave it under a closed lid for ten to twenty minutes.

Another option for cooking barley porridge, which requires little effort and time. Slow cooker.
In the slow cooker it is very convenient to cook breakfast, at least for me. We wash the cereals, fall asleep in the bowl.
Fill with water and milk. Salt, add sugar if necessary. Set the desired cooking function (I have milk porridge, you may have cereals or just porridge) and put on a delayed start.
A delayed start is the time after which the porridge begins to cook.
In the morning, delicious aromatic barley porridge will be ready.

In the finished porridge, you can add any fruit and berries. My favorite supplements: apple, banana, strawberry.
Useful advice
Since the stove will warm up for a long time on a small fire, I put the pan on the medium heat for five minutes first, and then on the small one.
