Wash the carrots thoroughly, peel and grate on a coarse grater or cut into thin circles. Free the apples from the core and cut into thin slices.

Prepare the fill. In a large saucepan, boil water and add a few leaves of laurel and 15-20 peas of black pepper to it. Then place salt, sugar, butter and vinegar in the broth.
