Instead of eating hard, overdried bread from the store, try old-fashioned bread with delicious sunflower seeds that you can bake at home. Baking homemade bread takes more time than choosing bread in the store, but the pros outweigh the time spent. Homemade bread is tastier and cheaper than store bread; moreover, it does not contain preservatives or chemical additives, so it is healthier.

In order to bake homemade bread with seeds, you will need:

  • 800 g of flour;
  • 2 and ¼ teaspoons of dry yeast;
  • 100 ml of milk
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar;
  • 2 tablespoons butter;
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of orange peel;
  • 100 ml of orange juice;
  • 100 g of peeled sunflower seeds;
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter.
  1. Pour flour and dry yeast into a large bowl and mix. Add milk, sugar, butter and salt to a small saucepan. Heat it over low heat until warm.
  2. Insert the liquid mixture into a bowl of flour and yeast. Add the egg and orange juice. Beat at low speed with a mixer until the mass is mixed, and then switch to high speed and beat for another three minutes. Add the orange zest and sunflower seeds and mix with a wooden spoon or hands.
  3. Put the dough on a surface lightly sprinkled with flour, and knead it with your hands until it becomes smooth. Form a ball from the dough and put in a greased cup. Cover and let rise for 1-2 hours.
  4. Squeeze the dough, cover again and leave for another 10 minutes. Lubricate the bread pan with vegetable oil or fat and flour.
  5. Remove the dough from the bowl, mold a brick (or loaf, depending on the shape) from it and place in the baking dish. Leave it to rise for 30-45 minutes.
  6. Heat the oven to 190 ° C. Lubricate the dough on top with melted butter and place in the oven for 30-45 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven and let the bread cool on a wire rack before serving.
