The fact that pomegranate is healthy, tasty, juicy, is known to all. Pomegranate is a fruit whose seeds are protected by a peel; it is rather difficult to get through it to the treasured grains without getting dirty and splashing with juice. Meanwhile, it is possible to clean the pomegranate gently without splashing and without kneading some of the grains.

Instruction manual

1

Carefully cut off the “crown” - the top of the pomegranate. Set aside.

2

Feel the pomegranate lobes with your fingers and gently, shallowly cut the peel in these places along, from top to bottom. In total, 4 or 6 longitudinal incisions can be made.

3

Dip the pomegranate in a pre-prepared container with cold water and directly in the water break it into fractions according to the longitudinal incisions. If you need grenades in this form, i.e. slices, remove it from the container, let it drain and put on a plate. If you need only grains, then without getting the grenades out of the water, begin to separate the white films (skins). In water, this is easy to do. In this case, the grains will settle to the bottom, and the skins will float.

4

Remove the skins with a spoon or strainer, discard the remaining water with grains in a colander and let the water drain. Select the remaining skins from the grains, now they are ready for squeezing (if you plan to make juice), for decorating salads or cake, or just for eating in this form.

note

Do not rush to throw away the pomegranate peel and seeds remaining after the juice is squeezed. These components of the fetus have no less useful properties than the grain itself. Which ones? This can be read in the specialized literature.

Useful advice

If suddenly you did not use the full pomegranate seeds, you have them and you don’t know what to do with them, you can freeze them. In a freezer, grains without films can be stored for up to 1 year. The same amount of pomegranate juice is stored (only necessarily sterilized). But freshly squeezed juice is better to immediately find use, it can only be stored in the refrigerator for 3 days.
