It is addictive like seeds, - people say about some fascinating occupation: starting to husk, it is extremely difficult to stop the process of peeling and eating fragrant grains, unless they themselves end. Clicking like seeds is another comparison that describes simple solutions to difficult tasks.

The source of the most beloved seeds - sunflower or sunflower - is not such a long-time resident of the country. His appearance in Russia is associated with the first Russian emperor - Peter I. It is believed that it was he who sent the seeds of the sun flower he saw in Holland to his homeland, and for a long time the sunflower pleased the Russians exclusively with its decorative properties.

The production of vegetable oil from sunflower seeds in Russia on an industrial scale began a century later. The process of consuming ripe seeds as a food has become one of the favorite types of pastimes in itself and as an addition to various gatherings and parties. Each hostess's seeds, roasted in a special way, were eaten in huge quantities.

Modern knowledge about the benefits and dangers of this gift of nature for humans is very extensive and not always reliable. For example, there is an erroneous opinion that the peel (or husk) that enters the stomach is sent exclusively to the appendix, further provoking its inflammation. The highest level of usefulness is for dried seeds, but the taste is better for fried seeds.

Beneficial substances are stored longer in unrefined seeds, since without husk fats quickly oxidize. On the other hand, it is on the peel of the crude product that a lot of invisible dirt remains that passes into the mouth: stomatitis is one of the most common consequences. There is another negative factor inaccessible to the eye - the presence of cadmium in sunflower seeds. It is “pulled” from the soil by the roots of the flower and “stops” in its seeds. Therefore, excessive passion for seeds can lead to problems with the kidneys and to diseases of the nervous system.

Seeds are prohibited for use before singing - they act negatively on the vocal cords. They are high-calorie and can negate the effect of any diet and exercise. At the same time, they are a supplier of a set of trace elements, including zinc, fluorine, iron, calcium, magnesium, iodine. Prevention of diseases of the cardiovascular system involves the inclusion of sunflower seeds in the diet.

Having listed a far from complete list of the properties of useful and harmful, we can conclude that a moderate "friendship" with this wonderful gift of nature is necessary. But finding out whether it is useful to bite seeds, as well as to husk, click and even harden, we get only a negative answer. It turns out that with one voice all dentists recognize the destructive effect of the cracked peel of the seeds on the tooth enamel.
