The secret of the original taste and popularity of Cointreau liquor

The recipe for making the world-famous Cointreau liqueur today was invented in the French town of Angers, where Eduard Cointreau, along with his brothers, opened a small enterprise for the production of alcoholic beverages from fruits. The creator came up with not only a unique composition of liquor from oranges, but also the original container into which the drink was to be bottled. Subsequently, a rectangular amber bottle became the hallmark of Cointreau liquor and contributed to the promotion of this product both non-local and in the world market.

The unique taste of Cointreau liquor is explained by the use of two types of oranges for its preparation - bitter from the Antilles and sweet from Spain and Brazil. According to the producers themselves, the zest of these fruits is removed manually, separating it from the inner white part. Then the crust is dried in the sun and for several days insist on alcohol produced from beet and grain products by distillation. After that, sugar syrup and spring water are added to the distillate.

It is the harmonious combination of bitter and sweet oranges, as well as a certain amount of sugar and water that gives the Cointreau liqueur such a unique and memorable taste. Fans of this drink appreciate its softness and richness, citrus notes, refreshing, delicate and at the same time intense aftertaste. Naturally, the recipe for such a liquor is kept in the strictest confidence.
