Egg cooking methods common in Germany

Germans usually eat soft-boiled eggs, baked in the oven as an omelet or fried in a pan. In the latter case, they often add several slices of ham, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms and various herbs. There are few spices in the preparation of eggs, most often only salt and pepper.

A traditional German dish is omelet with smoked herring. For its preparation, pieces of fish fillet of any size are laid with a refractory form greased with oil, thin circles of tomato are placed on top and sprinkled with greens. Then these ingredients are poured with beaten eggs and baked in the oven until cooked.

The omelet with potatoes, which is also cooked in the oven, is also popular among German residents. For its preparation, peeled potatoes are finely cut, fried in butter, laid out in a baking dish, sprinkled with pepper and salt, poured with eggs. Then put the dish in a hot oven and bake for 10 minutes.

Stuffed eggs are sometimes served as beer snacks in Germany. To prepare the filling, boiled yolk is used, mashed with mayonnaise and various ingredients: pickled cucumbers, smoked ham or salmon, anchovies, herring milk, herbs or butter.

Before serving, stuffed eggs are usually cooled in the refrigerator, but sometimes they are also fried in a pan. To do this, they are pre-dipped in a raw beaten egg, then rolled in cheese and breadcrumbs. The result is a hearty, high-calorie, but very tasty dish that goes well with beer.

Hard-boiled eggs under the marinade are also served as snacks. The latter is usually prepared from water, a small amount of wine vinegar, herbs and onions. Peeled boiled eggs are poured with marinade, then covered with a dense cloth and left for a day in the refrigerator so that they are well soaked.
